How Digital Fingerprinting Works?
Now with a cutting edge technology, the fingerprints are digitally scanned with state-of-the-art fingerprint scanner at a capture station. The scanned fingerprints along with the application information are transmitted, via a secure link, to the RCMP’s Real Time Identification (RTID) system.
Worldwide Forensic Services Inc. is accredited and certified by the CCRTIS division of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) to capture and submit fingerprints for criminal background checks. As compared to inked fingerprints submitted via mail or courier, the electronic submission of fingerprints has reduced the turnaround time from 22 weeks to 72 hours* plus the mailing time.
The applicant can walk-in with two pieces of valid acceptable identification (one of them must be a photo ID) and the applicable fees.
The following are the acceptable identifications:
- Passport.
- Driver’s Licence.
- Landing Papers (record of landing).
- Government ID.
- Social Insurance Number.
- Birth Certificate.
- Citizenship Card or Document.
- Permanent Residence Card.
- Provincial Identification Card.
- Work Permit.
- Student Permit.
Please Note:
If you do not have the original documentation, only certified copies will be accepted.
All fingerprinting applicants for Canadian Citizenship must bring a letter from Citizenship and Immigration Canada. Please make sure you bring this letter with your Permanent Residence Card and Record of Landing for your fingerprinting session.
After comparing submitted fingerprints with the criminal record database, the RCMP issues a certificate to the applicant or an authorized third-party. If the results are to be sent to the third-party, the applicant needs to provide correct address including postal code of the third party and has to give consent by signing a consent form and by affixing a fingerprint at the time of scanning of fingerprints.
* The application is normally processed in this time frame. This time does not include the transit time. Processing time may be longer if earlier criminal history/record is discovered.
